Pedro Parra y Familia - Imaginador 2019
Pedro Parra is a wine consultant and terroir fanatic who has dedicated his life trying to unravel the relationship between wine and terroir. For over 15 years, Pedro has been traveling the world consulting with many different producers while studying vine roots and their growing environment: soils, bedrock, climate, and aspect to name a few. He had always wanted to return home to his native Bio-Bio and Itata in Chile to start his own project that he can grow and share with his wife and children. Pedro Parra y Familia is the realization of that dream.
The Imaginador wine is labeled as Cinsault, however the grapes are sourced from vineyards that are over 200 years old, and all the blocks are planted with not only Cinsault, but also interspersed with Muscat, Semillon, Carignan and Pais, a common site in traditional Itata vineyards. The vines are between 70 and 110 years old, planted on hillside vineyards over granite soils. All the grapes are harvested and fermented together to create a unique old-vine field blend. Mid-ruby in the glass with garnet highlights, enchanting aromas of red berry fruits, violets and roses plume from the glass. On the palate, there is a concentrated mineral core and loads of freshness and energy with incredible depth of flavor. The old vines and granite soils combine to create a unique and delicious wine of place. Pedro and his wines are helping to redefine Chilean wine.
