Château Suduiraut 2019 (375ml)
The history of Château Suduiraut began in 1580 with the marriage of Nicole d’Allard and Léonard de Suduiraut. Classified as a Premier Cru Classé (First Growth) in Sauternes in 1855, it has always been known as a superb property (its neighbor is Château d’Yquem). In the 1990’s, after its sale to AXA, the Château made significant investments in its vineyards and winemaking facilities, which resulted in a dramatic increase in the quality of the wines.
The vineyards of Suduiraut are planted to 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc on 92 hectares over gravel, sand, limestone and clay soils on sloping hillsides. The 2019 vintage is a blend of 94% Sémillon and 6% Sauvignon Blanc fermented in French oak barrels and aged on its lees in 50% new French oak and 50% first use barrels for 16 to 20 months. Bright gold color with intense aromas of honey, candied and roasted fruit with floral notes. Concentrated, rich and complex palate that delivers extreme length and precision. An excellent Sauternes that will age beautifully for another 25+ years.
