Perfect Timing
Last week I returned from my annual European winery tour just in time for the beautiful spring weather and the kickoff to a fresh, new Rosé season...my absolute favorite time of year. While I was away, undertaking the arduous task of sampling wines across the French countryside, our first shipment of 2012 Rosé was being delivered to the shop. If the new vintage of the Arnot Roberts Rosé is a sign of what all the 2012 Rosés will bring then we are in for a delightful spring and summertime!

Dynamic Friends
Duncan Arnot Meyers and Nathan Lee Roberts are long-time childhood friends who grew up in Napa Valley, California, surrounded by winemaking. Duncan gained his winemaking experience working in several different vineyards in Napa including Caymus, Kongsgaard, Acacia and Groth, while Nathan honed his skill as a cooper; he hand-makes every French oak barrel that their wine is to be aged in. They are a perfect match for the winemaking world and are indeed a dynamic duo of a childhood friendship. They established their vineyard back in 2001 and have since rapidly grown into a winery that produces 2000 cases per year.

The 2012 Arnot-Roberts Rosé
 They are a daring winery, growing grape varietals very uncommon to California. Their latest vintage Rosé is a blend of native varietals of Portugal, 80% Touriga Nacional and 20% Tinta Caõ, which thrive in the Northern Californian climate. This vintage is even better than the last, with the introduction of this new, rare blending varietal. Done all in stainless steel tanks, the Rosé perfectly expresses the capabiltiy of this fantastic fruit and is bright, crisp and light to drink. A good swirl in the glass lifts light notes of apple, pear and stony fruits to the nose. Melon and white peach are present and simply delicious on the mid-palate, while the wine subtly coats the mouth with a slight viscosity. Its lengthy finish is clean and beautiful, just begging for another sip. Get ready for a spring and summer guzzler!
