Established in 1820, Txakoli Ameztoi Bodega is comprised of 51 hectares located on the Basque coast of Spain, overlooking the Cantabrian Sea. Ignacio Ameztoi is the fifth generation of his family to carry on the tradition of making Txakolina in the province of Getaria, and he has played a key role in the advancement of the region over the past decade. His intuitive and fearless pursuit of innovation has been a driving force in the Txakolina discipline.
Ameztoi's Rubentis is the region's first pink wine, a 50/50 blend of Hondarrabi Zuri and Hondarrabi Beltza harvested from estate vines (some over 100 years of age.) The red and white grapes are co-fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and rested on their lees for six months. Beautiful carnation pink in color with a fuchsia rim, the Rubentis offers a fresh nose of citrus and berry fruits. The palate is lightly effervescent with ultra-fine bubbles that help coat the tongue with flavors of strawberry, cherry and a touch of minerality. Vibrant acidity carries throughout leading to a refreshingly elegant finish. An ideal companion for seafood, sushi or tempura, though just as delicious on its own.
