Quinta de Lemos was established in 1997 by local textile magnate Celso de Lemos Esteves. Located in the Dão Valley — Portugal’s oldest wine-producing region — the property sits atop the Beira Alta plateau at an altitude of 340 meters. The estate produces wines exclusively from Dão’s indigenous varietals, sourced from their 25 hectares of organically/biodynamically farmed vineyards. The vines are grown on soils of sand and granite and are well-protected by the surrounding mountains. Circling the vineyards is a mix of forest and olive groves, from which the estate produces a variety of olive oils.
Quinta de Lemos’ Na Mouche is the estate’s baby wine. A delicious blend of Touriga Nacional (60%), Jaen (20%) and Alfrocheiro (20%), this fresh, young wine exhibits inviting aromas of ripe red and black berry fruit mixed with a touch of herbs and cut flowers. The palate is light, juicy and easy-drinking and displays a ton of raspberry and blackberry flavors with light tannins and a refreshing acidity. Enjoyable on its own, but equally delightful with a variety of hors d’oeuvres and lighter fare.
