Winemaker Bill Easton, who is the winemaker for Domaine de la Terre Rouge, makes wine under another label, Easton, that focuses on non-Rhône varietals like Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon and Barbera. He grows these vines on the volcanic and granitic soils of the Sierra foothill at high altitudes (some vineyards are as high as 3,200 feet!) This Zinfandel is not an alcohol bomb, but rather a balanced and unique expression of the terroir of the region. Notes of black cherry and blackberry mix with spices to create a complex network of flavors. Enjoy with roasted duck or turkey.
