Domaine du Gouyat was founded by the Dubard family in 1977, in a courtyard-style farm typical of the old province of Périgord, including a 17th century pigeonnier (dovecote) after which today's wine is named. The vineyards of Domaine du Gouyat stretch out across the right bank of the River Dordogne in the western part of the Bergerac wine appellation and sit on a bed of Asteria limestone that extends east from Saint-Émilion. This prized area, known as Montravel, is characterized by these calcareous-clay hills which face in an ideal southerly direction. In these historic surroundings, the family produces a stunning array of Bergerac wines: Malbec, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines set a benchmark in Southwest, France and the vintages produced each year never fail to impress.

Domaine du Gouyat's Bergerac Malbec is made from 100% Malbec, also known as Côt in this part of France. The wine is earthy, smoky and and dark-fruited on the nose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with notes of tobacco, spice, and dark red fruits with a gorgeous, lengthy finish. It is the perfect pairing for any grilled steaks, burgers, or sausages.
