Domaine Pinelli, located in Corsica, is owned and operated by third-generation winemaker, Marie-Charlotte Pinelli. After interning under Nicolas Mariotti Bindi, one of Corsica's most acclaimed vignerons, Marie-Charlotte took over a small parcel of vines that was acquired by her father. Today, she organically farms five hectares of vines grown on limestone granite soils and planted to Muscat à Petit Grains, Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Vermentinu. All work in the vineyard is done manually and wines are fermented naturally with native yeasts and bottled without fining or filtering.
To craft her Muscat Impassitu, Marie-Charlotte allows her grapes to raisinate on the vines before being pressed. This imparts a richness and texture to the finished wine. This wine displays a deep amber gold in the glass emitting intoxicating aromas of ripe stone fruit accented by notes of candied orange peel and honeysuckle. The lush palate is full of honeyed peach and apricot flavors that are buoyed by a beautifully bright acidity. Perfect on its own, but equally delicious with a plate of cheese and fresh fruit.
