The history of Château Lynch-Bages begins with Thomas Lynch and the "Batges" vineyard. Lynch owned the land starting in 1749 and worked very hard to make quality wine that he sold as "Cru de Lynch" which earned classification as a Cinquième Cru, or 5th Growth, in the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. In the 1930's Jean "Lou Janou" Cazes purchased the estate which has been in family hands since then.
The new vintage of Les Echo, the second label of Lynch-Bages, will, as the name suggests, keep calling you back for more. There is a dark concentration of blackberry, currant and light baking spice on the nose. Beautiful dark berry and black cherry fruits are interwoven around a supple, yet firm, tannic structure that runs throughout the body of the wine. It is ready to drink now, but will also age wonderfully in the cellar. Pair this with grilled filet mignon, a delicious rack of lamb, or barbecue ribs. This wine is exquisite and drinks like a bottle three times its price.
