Château Léoville-Las Cases, along with Châteaux Margaux and Latour, are the only three estates on the left bank that can trace their winemaking lineage back to the early 17th century. About a hundred years later, the estate was renamed Léoville, and in the 19th century, it was further divided into the three Léoville estates we have today: Las Cases, Poyferré and Barton. Léoville-Las Cases has been owned by the Delon family since the early 20th century, and under the family’s leadership, has become the most celebrated Château in Saint Julien and one of the top wines in all of Bordeaux.
The 2006 Léoville-Las Cases is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc that is in a brilliant stage of its evolution. Complex aromas of blueberries, cassis, blackberries, graphite and crushed rocks intermingle with subtle spice notes with a touch of anise and cigar box. The palate shows remarkable freshness with vibrant, juicy fruit flavors and well-integrated tannins that frame the wine perfectly as it flows into a long, complex finish. Straight from the cellars of the Château, you can drink now, though the wine will continue to age gracefully with proper storage for another 10 years.
