Champagne Solemme — owned and operated by the wife-and-husband team of Catherine and Olivier Langlais — is located in Villers-Aux-Noeuds between Montagne de Reims and Epernay. The estate is comprised of six hectares spread out over five different terroirs in the Premier Cru of Reims. The couple took over the estate in 2006 and set to organic conversion in 2009. Since 2018, the property has been certified organic while continuous biodynamics methods have been utilized since inception. The name Solemme is a combination of “sol” for “soleil” or sun, and “emme” for “femme” or woman. His goal is to make feminine, delicate Champagnes that are bright like the sun. The vineyards are composed of 50% Pinot Meunier, 25% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Noir, and planting years vary from 1957 to 2018 with an average age of 52 years.

Solemme’s Ambre is 100% Pinot Meunier sourced from their Premier Cru vineyards. Gorgeous golden amber in color, this Premier Cru displays a steady stream of miniscule bubbles in the glass. Dazzling on the nose, the wine possesses a beautiful bouquet of Red Delicious apple, citrus-washed mixed berries and a light floral touch. The Ambre is incredibly precise on the palate, combining flavors of strawberries and ruby-red grapefruit with focused acidity, saline minerality and a creamy, energetic finish. An excellent wine for a celebration, this Champagne makes for a delicious toast.
