For the last ten years, the customers at the Princeton Corkscrew have come to recognize anything from Chad Alexander as an amazing deal. Whether it is his Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays or Cabernets, anytime you see the Chad label you know that you are getting a wine that punches above its weight. The cuvées and sources change almost every year, but that’s what makes Chad special: He has a nose for the deals, no matter if the fruit is from Sonoma, Napa, Santa Barbara or the Willamette. Chad has worked closely with many wineries on the west coast, where he has an almost preternatural talent for knowing which top vineyards and producers have extra fruit they need to unload. This time Chad's offering is a gorgeous single-vineyard Merlot!
This 100% Merlot was sourced from an 18° inclined, southwest-facing vineyard on Sonoma Mountain. The wine sits in the glass a deep ruby red emitting aromas of beautiful blue and black fruits with a touch of dried herbs. The palate is elegant, yet full with a sumptuous mouthfeel. Flavors of blackberries, blueberries and cassis carry you through to a long, sensuously smooth finish. Perfect with any red meat dishes... Try alongside Beef Wellington or rosemary-crusted lamb chops with a creamy potato puree and roasted vegetables.
