Azienda Agricola il Poggio - Nuvole sul Poggio 2022 (375ml)
Francesca Poggio is the third generation of her family to grow grapes and make wine in the heart of the Gavi DOCG in Piedmont, though it wasn't until 2003 that she established Azienda Agricola il Poggio. She sustainably-farms the sandy and clay rich soils in the hills of Rovereto, which impart the unique character of the local Cortese grape. Francesca has learned the winemaking traditions of her family that have passed down from genertation to generation since the 1950's and she has preserved that knowledge with her practices in the vineyard and cellar. Today, Francesca's sister, Alessandra, helps her manage the resort, her daughter, Giorgia, assists in the cellar and Francesca's husband, Angelo, is in charge of the vineyards and woods. The estate will soon be moving forward with organic conversion.
This 100% Cortese Gavi di Gavi is a refreshing, clean white wine with flavors of white fruits, flowers and a touch of spice. On the palate, the mineral profile of the wine is on full display with a broad acidity that keeps the wine fresh and bright. Enjoy with vegetable dishes or light white meats.
