Azienda Agricola Eraldo Viberti - Nebbiolo 2019
Founded in 1960, Azienda Agricola Eraldo Viberti farms six hectares of vineyards in the commune of La Morra in Barolo planted to Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Since 2018, the estate is certified organic. All vineyard work, from pruning to harvest, is done manually, with only organic fertilizers and no herbicide use (instead, the family uses a manual hoe to control the grasses beneath the vines). Fermentations are carried out in stainless steel and the Barbera and Nebbiolo wines are aged in French oak barriques.
Eraldo Viberti's Langhe is crafted from 100% Nebbiolo is grown on tufaceous and clay marl soil. It is fermented for 10 days in stainless steel, then aged for 12 months in neutral French oak barrels. In the glass, this Nebbiolo sits a soft ruby red color and emits aromas of dried cherries and black berry fruit with hints of tobacco and flowers. The palate is intense with clean fruit flavors, well-balanced with fine tannins and fresh acidity. The finish lasts just long enough to entice that next sip. This is a great pizza wine, but you can also enjoy it with spaghetti alla puttanesca or grilled lamb chops with rosemary-crusted potatoes.
