The vineyards of Alta-Yarí are nestled between the Mendoza plains and the snow-capped Andes mountains, at an altitude that only truly experienced winemaker can make shine. The vines then, have an ability to thrive in this unique environment, producing some of the most remarkable and full of character Argentine wines you will ever find. Hervé Fabre, of Fabre Montmayou fame, leaned on his 40+ years of dedicated vineyard work, research and winemaking experience to select only the very best plots which produce the most exceptional fruit spanning across the estate. He believes that the Alta-Yarí estate in Gualtallary is one of the best he has ever found. Alta-Yarí combines a French heart and an Argentine soul to create a Grand Vin Argentin.
Hervé Fabre's Alta-Yarí Malbec Reserva pours an entrancing deep red color with violet highlights. A deep inhale is rewarded with intense red and black fruit aromas — ripe rasp- and blackberry and plum combined with an added complexity due to 50% French oak aging for twelve months. Those dark fruit flavors are present on the palate, displaying a harmonious juxtaposition of roundness and elegance, perfectly in proportion and well-structured. The finish is delightful and lingering. An ideal pairing for grilled skirt or hanger steak, drizzled with chimichurri.
