Gianfranco Palladino and his family are making honest, organically farmed wines from indigenous grapes in the Marsala region of Sicily. The Isola del Satiro is a charming blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Perricone. This amazing Sicilian red shows a striking ruby red and violet hue in the glass. Wonderful aromas of dark berries and purple flowers intermingle with a delicate, light spice note. On the palate, ripe raspberry, fresh red cherry and lilac flavors dance across the tongue, supported by a gentle, integrated acidity. Soft, delicate tannins balance the fruit concentration and carry it smoothly through a long, satisfying finish. Enjoy with grilled swordfish, eggplant parmigiana or grilled pizza.
