The Winzergenossenschaft Königschaffhausen dates from 1933 with a current membership of some 370 growers, who together cultivate about 204 hectares of vines. Under the leadership of Günter Zimmerman and Harald Henninger, growers are strongly encouragaed to employ best practices in their vineyards and for delivering first-class fruit to the winery. The winery, located in Endingen, is capable of making wine in a variety of styles, depending on variety and ripeness, and is outfitted with the best and latest of modern technology, along with the oldfashioned traditional equipment. Apart from the ubiquitous Müller-Thurgau, from which Königschaffhausen produces its standout picnic wine Flaneur, grape-growing is focused upon members of the pinot family—Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder and Weißburgunder.

The Winzergenossenschaft Konigschaffhausen Blanc de Noirs is made from 100% Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) made as a white wine, without skin contact, the same method as used in Champagne, but as a still wine! The grapes come from the volcanic soils of the terraced Kaiserstuhl vineyard in Baden, one of the regions top sites for Spätburgunder. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and rests on the fine lees for a few months until bottling. The resultant wine is dry, fun, fruity and floral with a complexity and refreshment unlike anything else in Baden!
