Eva Fricke has taken a long journey to become the winemaker she is today. The daughter of two doctors, no one in her family had any connection to the wine business. However, after a summer job at a vineyard in South Africa, Eva decided to study wine at Geisenheim in the Rheingau. While there, she interned at some prestigious estates in Bordeaux, Piedmont and Ribera del Duero. After graduating in 2001, she returned to work in the Rheingau, and began making miniscule amounts of her own wine in 2004. In 2011, Eva decided to focus solely on her own wine, crafted from her personally-tended organic vineyards and sold under the Weingut Eva Fricke label.
A blend from several Rheingau vineyards in Lorch, Eltville, Hattenheim and Kiedrich. The QbA Trocken comes from a variety of soils: sandy loess and loam, clay and riverbed sediments (Eltville, Hattenheim, Kiedrich) as well as slate and quarzite (Lorch). Fermented in stainless steel followed by four to nine months on its fine lees. This is an excellent introduction to Eva’s filigreed style.
