Savvoglou-Tsivolas Winery — founded in 2002 by Yiannis Savvoglou and Pantelis Tsivolas — is located on the Greek island of Limnos. The estate organically farms 20 hectares of vineyards planted to Muscat of Alexandria, Limnio, Assyrtiko, Cabernet Sauvignon and Fokiano. The goal of winery is to highlight the indigenous varieties of Limnos and to give them honorable representation. Savvoglou-Tsivolas makes both high-quality dry, aromatic wines and fine, sweet wines in their ultra-modern winemaking facility in Myrina.
Savvoglou-Tsivolas' Assyrtiko is an organic, monovarietal wine cultivated in the volcanic soils of Limnos. The wine displays a golden-yellow color with bright flecks. Mouthwatering aromas of grapefruit, peach and nectarine leap from the glass, mixed with notes of wet stone and white flowers. On the palate, this lovely white is medium-bodied and bursting with citrus-drenched, stone fruit flavors. Perfectly-balanced, this Assyrtiko exhibits beautiful acidity and a delightful, saline-laced minerality that leads to a powerful, lip-smacking finish.
