Mas des Caprices' husband and wife team, Pierre and Mireille Mann, were both children of Alsatian winegrowers. Together, they started a restaurant in Alsace in 1993, the beginning of a journey that taught them how to captivate the palate. Though, after 10 years, the desire to return to the vineyard and make their own wines became too great and they founded Mas des Caprices in the Languedoc, in the Fitou extension of Corbières. Pierre and Mireille describe their domaine as "a place where the winds of the Pyrenees and the sea intertwine" growing their vines in an area cradled by the climate of the western Mediterranean basin. The couple farms their 15-hectare estate both organically and biodynamically (certified since 2014), crafting elegant wines that are true to their appellations with minimal intervention in the vineyard and in the cellar.
Mas des Caprices' le Blanc de l'Oeuf — a beautiful blend of Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Maccabeu and a touch of Muscat — pours a pale yellow with silver flecks. A swirl of the glass reveals lively aromas of stone and citrus fruits accented with a light floral note. The palate is round and supple with flavors of white peach and lime zest cascading across the tongue towards a dry, refreshing, mineral-laced finish. An ideal pairing for seafood... try with crab cakes or whole-roasted branzino.
