La Gironda di Galandrino Azienda Agricola - La Lippa - Barbera d'Asti 2021
Azienda Agricola la Gironda is a family-owned estate in Nizza Monferrato, a small commune in the Asti province of Piedmont. Together, the wife and husband team of Susanna and Alberto Galandrino sustainably farm seven hectares of vines which have been in Susanna's family for generations. While the vineyards had always been maintained, the Galandrinos main focus had been the production of winemaking machinery. It wasn't until 2000 that they changed course and made the family decision to produce their own wines. Wine, which had always been the object of their work, had now become their passion and the heart of their commitment and dedication. The couple understand that their land and vineyard are "only temporarily on loan" to them, so sustainable viticulture and environmental preservation are at the forefront of La Gironda's operation, making wines that serve as ambassadors to their region and terroir.
La Gironda's la Lippa Barbera d'Asti is crafted to be young and enjoyable, similar to the game after which it is named. Pouring a bright ruby red with violet highlights, this Barbera possesses a generous nose of dark red and blue fruits with a hint of purple flowers. The palate is juicy and fresh offering flavors of ripe blueberries and black cherries. This wine is finely structured with a balance of vibrant acidity, well-integrated tannins and a lively finish that brings you right back for another sip. Perfect for pizza night, but this wine provides excellent versatility on the table.
