Ktima Biblia Chora - Biblinos - Red 2016
The Biblia Chora Estate was established in 2001 by two well-known winemakers, Vassilis Tsaktsarlis and Vangelis Gerovassiliou. The two combined their love and experience in creating high quality wines to develop a model organic vineyard of 35 hectares at the foot of the Pangaion Hills in Kokkinochori, Kavala, an area with a long history of grape-growing and winemaking.
Biblia Chora's Biblinos Red is produced from an unidentified red variety, originally found in the area of Pangeon. After years of research and DNA testing, it turns out to be an old variety that is nonidentical to any modern Greek or foreign grape. Traditional vinification methods were used, then the wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
The Biblinos Red sits a deep violet-red color in the glass. The wine offers sweet, floral aromas of red berry fruit mixed with rose petals. The palate is full of red fruit flavors (raspberries, red currants, strawberries) accented with bittersweet chocolate and savory herbs. The Biblinos Red is well-structured, yet elegant and finishes long and flavorful. Enjoy with aged cheeses or red meat dishes, especially roasts.
