The Kingston family has maintained a presence in Chile's Casablanca Valley since the early 1900's, when Carl John Kingston left his home in Central Mine, Michigan in search of copper and gold. Instead of finding gold, he started a large dairy and cattle ranch in the western hills of the valley, just twelve miles from the Pacific Ocean . Throughout the years, members of the Kingston family maintained "The Farm", but in the 1990's, Courtney Kingston made the daring decision to plant cool-climate red varietals in a valley known almost exclusively for white grapes. The result was some of the best Pinot Noir and Syrah in all of Chile, as well as excellent cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. All their vines are farmed organically and planted on their own roots.
The Kingston Tobiano is made from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from a mix of the different parcels grown on the estate. The wine is aged for 10 months in used French oak barrels. In the glass, it displays a translucent ruby color with garnet highlights. The wine is full of fresh red-berry fruits, soft tannins, lively acidity and a complex savory undertone. Enjoy with cider-cured pork chops or spice-rubbed turkey.
