Father John Winery was started by Nicholas Maloney in 2010 with the idea that every wine should be true to its provencnce. Named in honor of the life of the late Reverend John Weaver — a renowned Episcopalian priest — who was extremely influential on those who were lucky enough to share their time with him and dedicated to a life of honesty, reverence and peace. Nicholas spent time working in Margaux and at numerous Burgundian estates, as well as in Switzerland. His cumulative experience helped shape his winemaking philosophy, that a vineyard should express its own distinct character and the wines grown from them should be just as distinctive. All of the vineyards sourced by Father John Winery have strong Pacific coast influences. Father John wines are crafted to age gracefully and be enjoyed with fine cuisine.
The Father John Vine Hill Road Pinot Noir is the estate's flagship wine. The Vine Hill Road vineyard was the source of the first ever bottle of Father John wine that was produced. Vine Hill Road is a historic viticultural area in the Russian River Valley. This Pinot Noir sits a bright ruby red in the glass. Seductive aromas of wild strawberries and red currants kissed with spice tantalize the senses. The palate is medium-bodied with delicate red fruit flavors balanced by a delicate acidity and suave tannins. This wine is beautiful now, but has the depth and complexity to age. Perfect for an appetizer course... Enjoy with mushroom duxelle and crème fraîche on crostini or assorted charcuterie.
