Ivan Enjingi is one of Croatia's superstar natural winemakers. His vineyards, spread out on 50 hectares in the Kutjevo appellation, overlook the Pozega valley. Ivan grows nine different varietals — planted along the slopes of Mt. Krndija in soils that vary from sandy loam to extreme rock — including Riesling, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer. In fact, the Enjingi vineyards used to be the official vineyards of the Austrian Emperor and his crown. All of the vineyards are farmed organically with very low yields to help create wines that are a true expression of the land.
This offering from Enjingi is 100% Graševina (Welschriesling) sourced from Ivan's organically farmed vineyards. The wine is rich and full, yet balanced by a wonderful acidity. Flavors of white peach and apricot meld with a precise minerality that guides the wine across your palate to a satisfying finish tinged with petrol and herbs. Perfect pairing for charcuterie featuring hard cheeses and cured meats. Also, this wine is a delightful option for anything from the sea.
