Domaine Les Capréoles is a 5.5 hectare estate in the Beaujolais Cru of Régnié run by the husband and wife team Cédric and Catherine Lecareux. The estate is over 250 years old and Cédric and Catherine have been running it since 2014. The name "Capréoles" comes from the old French word for vine tendrils, symbolizing history and tradition, the natural support of the vine and the connection the estate wishes to make with those who appreciate their work. The estate is practicing organic and the wines are vegan.
The Domaine Les Capréoles Chamodère is made from 100% Gamay from 40 year old vines. Most of the grapes (70%) are fermented whole-cluster, with the rest being destemmed, in open tank fermenters. 20% of the wine is aged in 4-6 year old barrels while the rest is aged in concrete tanks. The combination of carbonic maceration and destemmed grapes results in a Régnié with bright red fruit flavors of raspberry, cranberry and red currant. On the palate the wine is fresh and well-structured with silky tannins and a touch of mineral and spice on the long finish. Enjoy with chicken tacos, hen of the woods mushrooms or turkey dinner.
