The Crochet name is synonymous with the town of Bué, one of the three greatest villages in Sancerre. Domaine Dominique et Janine Crochet is a younger — only second generation — estate in the tiny village of Crezancy (500 residents). The property is comprised of a miniscule six hectares, a single vineyard planted solely to Sauvignon Blanc on limestone-rich soils. Vinification and élevage takes place in their modest garage winery.
The Crochet Sancerre blanc pours a mid-yellow color into the glass displaying an expressive mélange of orchard, stone and citrus fruit with notes of flint and wet stone. The palate is fresh, vibrant and energetic with flavors of green apple, Asian pear and grapefruit. Those fruit flavors harmoniously intertwined with the wine’s delightful minerality and racy acidity. The finish is crisp, refreshing and saline-laced. Enjoy with anything from the raw bar, especially oysters or pasta tossed with garlic, olive oil and garden vegetables.
