Domaine Delalex is located in the village of Marin, a Cru of Savoie, near Lac Léman, on the border of Switzerland. Brothers Samuel and Benoît Delalex are the latest in a line of generational farmers who have been growing Chasselas on 8 total hectares; though, the crown jewel is the Clos du Pont, from which they produce a stunning single-vineyard wine. This site is traditionally known to make the best wines of the village, and Samuel and Benoît's father replanted the abandoned vineyard in 1982. From this sunny, warm site on a steep hillside that runs up against the glacial-fed Dranse River, Domaine Delalex produces one of the mose exceptional wines in Savoie.
The Clos du Pont is made from 100% Chasselas on the gravelly, glacial moraine soils of the Clos du Pont vineyard. All grapes are hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, then aged for 10 months on the lees followed by at least 1 year in bottle. Malolactic fermentation is blocked, which is unique for the region. The result is a wine of incredible complexity, texture and richness that ages beautifully.
