Established in 1927, Château Sainte Croix sits on 50 hectares in the town of Carcès. Family-owned for four generations, the estate was a former fortress built in the 12th century by Cistercian monks. After being purchased by the Pélépol family in 1924, the property stopped contributing grapes to the Carcès cooperative and began making their own wine three short years later. The vineyards are deeply rooted in clayey-calcareous soils that are mixed with sandy deposits.

One of my favorite things about the Château Sainte Croix rosé is that it has something for everyone: fruit intensity, minerality, vibrancy, freshness, concentration and texture. As an added bonus, the wine is incredibly versatile: perfect for sipping on a sunny afternoon or pairing with a wide range of foods from roasted vegetables with aioli to whole-grilled fish. The Château Sainte Croix pours a bright pink in the glass, highlighted by an iridescent blue rim, a dead giveaway of Provence. Soft, mixed berry and stone fruit aromas dance from the glass mixed with a wet-rock minerality. This stunning rosé washes over the palate with flavors of ripe red berry and rich citrus — orange and tangerine — complemented by a refreshing acidity. The wine is delicate, yet possesses depth and complexity. An ideal apéritif, pair this with a tomato salad served with marinated grilled shrimp and vegetable kabobs for a fabulous dinner!
