Château Pesquié - Terrasses - Rouge 2020
Brothers Frédéric and Alexandre Chaudière are the third generation of their family to manage Château Pesquié, a 100 hectare estate in Ventoux. Viticulture on the estate stretches back to the Romans, who also gave the estate its name: pescarum, Latin for fish ponds, a reference to the many springs around the estate. The vines are certified organic and the brothers have incorporated biodynamic treatments and practices in their vineyards, which are set on fine gravel, clay-limestone hillsides. In the cellar, the focus is on elegance, purity and balance with winemaking done in stainless steel and the wines aged according to varietal in different vessels: steel, concrete or barrel.
The 2019 Terrasses Rouge is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah made to express the supple fruit qualities of Ventoux. Deep ruby color with intense aromas of bright red berry fruits, pepper spice and dried herbs. On the palate, the wine displays lovely freshness with velvetty round tannins and an added floral note. An excellent Rhône value that delivers complexity, drinkability and transparency. Enjoy with grilled kebabs or roasted meats.
