Château Brehat is part of Château Haut-Rocher, a property operated by the union of the Monteil and Rocher families, since the 15th century. The Brehat estate is comprised of five hectares in the Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, planted to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grown on clay-silty soils. Overseen by Jérôme and Béatrice de Monteil since 2010, Château Brehat has benefitted from numerous investments in the vineyard and in the cellar to allow the production of high quality wines. The property has been labeled HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) since 2019 and certified organic starting with the 2022 vintage.
Château Brehat pours a deep ruby red with garnet reflections. There is an abundance black berry and stone fruits on the nose that intermingle with notes of violets, licorice and spice. The medium-bodied palate is fresh and juicy with unraveling flavors of cassis, blackberry, plum and cherry that are supported by fine tannins and a delicate acidity. The finish is complex and persistent. An excellent pairing with cheeseburgers straight off the grill.
