Istine is a family estate located in Radda in Chianti with vineyards in Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti. It is run by Angela Fronti, whose family own a vineyard construction and management company. Angela only began making wine from the family vineyards in 2009 (previously their wine was sold off in bulk). Istine consists of three separate vineyards, for a total of 26 hectares, located at high altitudes planted on the rocky galestro and alberese soils in which the Sangiovese of Chianti Classico thrives. Since 2016 the estate is certified organic.
The Istine Chianti Classico is a blend of all three of their vineyards, fermented in stainless steel and aged for 8-12 months in large, Slavonian oak barrels ranging in size from 10-40 hectoliters. This is a charming Sangiovese displaying the bright red fruit concentration the region is known for while also showing a mineral streak balanced by a firm acidity. The wine is fresh and elegant, everything you want in a Chianti Classico. Enjoy with spaghetti bolognese, lasagna, salume or pizza.
