Elena Pellagrini’s Cerbaia estate is only 4.5 hectares. She farms her Brunello (Sangiovese) vines organically, picks by hand and ages in the traditional Slovenian casks. The vines were planted in the ‘70s by her dad on northeast facing parcels, rooted in Montosoli's famous galestro soil: a rocky, schistous clay unique to the top vineyards of Tuscany. The high elevation and mineral soil produce naturally tiny, thick-skinned berries, perfect for making concentrated, structured wine with an aromatic complexity and elegance usually reserved for wines at a much greater price.
The Rosso di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese aged for four months in large, old oak barrels. Deep ruby in the glass with intense aromas of black cherry, ripe raspberry, flowers and a touch of earth. The palate is fresh and energized with impeccable balance of tangy fruit and soft, ripe tannins. Enjoy with grilled game birds alongside mixed mushrooms.
