The Cerbaia vineyards are located on a breezy, northeast-facing slope in close proximity to the hilltop village of Montalcino. The 12 acres of vines enjoy a relatively cool microclimate, which, combined with the calcareous soil and high altitude, result in healthy, optimally ripened grapes making structured and aromatically complex wines. With meticulous adherence to best viticulture practices, Cerbaia specializes in limited production of high-quality Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
Cerbaia's Brunello di Montalcino is made from 100% Sangiovese. The wine is pure, elegant, and aromatically complex with clean aromas of cherry, strawberry and herbs. On the palate, the tannins are firm and mouth-coating but not obtrusive, balanced beautifully by a firm, glossy acidity and moderate alcohol. The fresh fruit flavors are concentrated and elegant, seamlessly floating into a long, refined finish. The Cerbaia Brunello di Montalcino showcases the purity of the Brunello clone of Sangiovese as well as the freshness, length and structure the wines from Montalcino are known for, and why these wines can age so beautifully.
