Azienda Agricola Brezza Giacomo e Figli - Nebbiolo d'Alba - Vigna Santa Rosalia 2020
The Brezza family has owned and operated their winery and vineyards in Barolo since 1885. In 1910, Giacomo Brezza bottled their first wine under the Brezza name. Today the estate is in its fourth generation of family leadership, run by Enzo Brezza and his cousin Giacomo. Grapes are grown organically and hand-harvested. In the cellar the Brezza family practices traditional winemaking by allowing for spontaneous fermentation to occur with native yeasts, long macerations, and extended ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.
The Nebbiolo d'Alba Vigna Santa Rosalia is made from 100% Nebbiolo, showing off the lighter, more fruit forward style that the grape can attain. After harvest the wine is fermented for 6-8 days then transferred to large barrels to rest for one year. This is an extremely perfumed Nebbiolo, offering bright red fruit flavors with subtle notes of rose petals and cinnamon. The tannins and acidity are soft for Nebbiolo. This can age but drinks beautifully right now. Pair with pasta dishes or roast chicken.
