Agricola Fratelli Broccardo - Il Gió Pi - Nebbiolo 2020
Fratelli Broccardo has been a family estate since 1940’s, though it wasn’t until the 21st century they began selling their estate wine commercially. Today, the third generation manages their 7 hectares of vineyards in the Langhe, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello where they grow Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. In addition to Paiagallo, Broccardo also makes Barolo from the Ravera, I Tre Pais, and Bricco San Pietro Cru sites.
The Broccardo Il Gió Pi Langhe Nebbiolo is 100% Nebbiolo fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks then aged for 6 months in large 25 hl casks and tonneaux. All grapes are from vineyards in the Comune di Monforte — San Giovanni and Bricco San Pietro, hence the name Gió Pi as in Giovanni and Pietro. Light ruby color with aromas and flavors of crunchy red berries, rose petals and dried herbs. Zesty and refreshing with soft tannins and lots of energy, this is an excellent picnic Nebbiolo to enjoy slightly chilled with an artisanal salumi sandwich.
