Agricola Fratelli Broccardo - I Tre Pais - Barolo 2019
Located in Monforte d'Alba in Barolo, Broccardo has been a family estate since 1900. Today, the third generation manages their 13 hectares of vineyards in the Langhe, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello where they grow Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. Each grape is vinified to express the purity of its terroir with a particular emphasis on preserving fruit character with minimal intervention in the cellar.
The I Tre Pais Barolo is made from 100% Nebbiolo from 30 year-old vines in Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello grown on soils of sandy clay and silt. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel with a 20-day maceration before aging for 24 months in new and old 35-hectoliter Slavonian and French oak botti. Mid-ruby in color with a slight tawny rim. Intense aromas of cherries, red flowers and fresh earth plume from the glass. The palate is tightly wound and concentrated, though extremely approachable, with a charge of acidity and firm, mouth-coating tannins that lead into a long finish. Drink now or cellar for another 10+ years.
