Agricola Fratelli Broccardo - Barolo Ravera 2017
Fratelli Broccardo has been a family estate since 1940’s, though it wasn’t until the 21st century they began selling their estate wine commercially. Today, the third generation manages their 7 hectares of vineyards in the Langhe, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo and Novello where they grow Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Arneis. In addition to Paiagallo, Broccardo also makes Barolo from the Ravera, I Tre Pais, and Bricco San Pietro Cru sites.
The Ravera Barolo is made from 100% Nebbiolo from 25 year-old vines in Novello, Barolo grown on soils of limestone and clay. All grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel with a 20-day maceration before aging for 24 months in new and old 35 hectoliter Slavonian and French oak botti. Mid ruby in color with an intriguing nose offering aromas of ripe plums, berries, herbs and a hint of spice. Full-bodied and round, with slightly firm tannins and a savory finish. Drink now or cellar for another 10+ years.
