The Domaine du Gouyat wine estate was founded by the Dubard Family in 1977, in a courtyard-style farm typical of the old province of Perigord. In these historic surroundings, the family produces a stunning array of Bergerac wines: Malbec, Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc. These wines are a benchmark in Southwest France and the vintages produced each year never fail to impress. The vineyards of Domaine du Gouyat stretch out on the right bank of the River Dordogne in the western part of the Bergerac wine appellation. This prized area, known as Montravel, is characterized by its calcareous-clay hills, facing an ideal southerly direction.
Domaine du Gouyat's 100% Sauvignon Blanc is a wonderful example of spring in a glass: aromatic, clean and crisp with a distinct thrill and charm, like the season's first warm rays of sun splashing across your face. The nose of the wine is pristine, filled with notes of gooseberry and exotic fruits complimented by subtle hints of white peach and fresh herbs. The flavors on the palate are rich and generous, though there is plenty of zip and cut to keep the wine lively and energetic. The finish is zesty and clean with a stony minerality balanced by fresh citrus. Enjoy with a spring mix salad with lemon vinaigrette or pan-seared halibut with sautéed asparagus.
