Bott Frères is located in the village of Ribeauvillé, in the heart of Alsace. Since 1835, some of the oldest wine know-how has been transmitted from generation to generation; father to son. The Bott family does not manufacture wine, it cultivates it. On the estate's vineyards, seven varieties are grown and produced in a wide array of soils and the subsequent wines made in a range of styles. The grape harvest is undertaken manually and the output is monitored in order to produce high quality wines. Aging takes place in century old oak casks. The results are some of the most food friendly and distinctive wines from Alsace. Since 2019, the estate has been in transition to organic certification.
Bott Frères’ Osterberg Grand Cru Riesling pours a luminous pale golden hue with subtle green reflections. The inviting bouquet is startlingly complex, revealing aromas of bold citrus alongside notes of orange blossom, ginger and jasmine. Hints of flint and smoky chalk underscore its mineral depth, evoking the vineyard’s limestone-rich terroir. The palate is bone dry and tightly focused showcasing an incredible interplay between ripe fruit and racy acidity. Layers of mandarin, clementine, white peach and a whisper of tropical fruit unfold with precision and verve. A saline, chalk-infused minerality runs seamlessly through the wine, lending both structure and tension. The finish is long, clean and crystalline leaving lingering impressions of citrus zest, crushed stone and delicate floral tones. Elegant yet restrained, this Riesling captures the essence of its Grand Cru origin — ripe, yet refined... powerful, yet pure... with an effortless sense of freshness and poise. Pair with goat cheeses, Thai lemongrass shrimp, grilled sea bass or lemon-thyme roasted chicken.
