After nearly a half-century of winemaking in Algeria, Jean-Louis Mourre‘s family returned to France in 1962 and established the family estate in the Rhône Valley in foothills of the Dentelles de Montmiral. Since taking over the reins in 1995, Jean-Louis — a geologist by trade —oversees the organically-farmed 22 hectares of vineyards, which includes seven hectares in Vacqueyras. With his unique geological insight, Jean-Louis coaxes every bit of terroir into his vines which average 50 years of age. Composed of clay-limestone and sandstone, the vineyards’ soils nurture his vines of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Merlot and Alicante for the reds and Viognier, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc for the whites. Jean-Louis Mourre passionately crafts fine wines combining traditional expertise and technological innovation.
Gold colour with green lights. Very aromatic: mango and acacia blossom. Balanced structure with a beautiful freshness. Pair with monkfish in the Armorican, scallops on pear fondue, or pasta with gorgonzola.
