Château Potensac, located in the Médoc between the villages of Blaignan and Ordannac, has been in the Delon family — owners of Château Léoville-Las Cases — since 1870. Current proprietor Jean-Hubert Delon has run the estate since inheriting it from his grandmother, Georgette Liquard. The property is comprised of over 60 hectares of hilly vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot in soils of clay and gravel over limestone (similar to Saint-Estèphe). Some of the estate's plots are over 80 years of age.

Château Potensac's Grand Vin — a blend of 47% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot — displays a brilliant ruby red color. This wine is highly aromatic with loads of dark cherry and currants infused with notes of cigar box, fresh-cut purple flowers and pencil shavings. The palate is lively and focused offering concentrated red berry flavors balanced by a vivacious acidity and firm tannins. This wine possesses a underlying crushed stone mineral streak that runs throughout, leading to an bright, elegant finish. A perfect companion for an expertly-grilled steak: try a well-marbled ribeye or porterhouse with sides of double-fried frites and sautéed greens.

One of the best ever with super currants, mint, mineral and iodine. Crushed stones. Medium- to full-bodied, it has wonderful caressing tannins that run the length of the wine. A real Potensac, cabernet-driven, that goes on for minutes. 43% cabernet sauvignon, 36.5% merlot, 19.5% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. Drink after 2028 but already fantastic and one of the best values of the vintage.

The 2022 Château Potensac is darker and more concentrated, featuring currants, spring flowers, and graphite. Medium to full-bodied, with layered depth, balanced structure, and beautiful tannins, it's a serious, structured Potensac that should evolve well for 15-20+ years.
