The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino opens slowly in the glass, delicate and floral, with hints of cedar and worn leather complementing dusty rose. This is silky in texture and lifted in feel with pretty red berry fruits that flow under an air of violet inner florals. It finishes with crunchy tannins and hints of orange that balance the concentration of primary fruit that lingers. This is a wine of purity and balanced for the cellar. Very nice.

Very pretty perfumes of black cherries, sandalwood and red roses follow through to a full body with lots of tannins and wood tannins that follow through to a fresh and racy finish. Give it time. Best after 2027.

The nose is earthy and fresh, but gentle, with aromas of potting soil, mixed herbs, pomegranate and figs. On the palate, a strong current of cherries fortifies the figs against peppery earthiness, complementing fierce tannins and a smoldering heat.

A ripe and earthy style, the 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino pours a dark ruby color and is open with aromas of baked black cherries, worn leather, and freshly turned soil. Fleshy and full-bodied, it fills the palate with more ripe fruit, rich tannins that feel dusty on the finish, and more modest acidity levels. I would prefer to drink this sooner rather than later, as it feels a bit one-dimensional. Drink 2024-2028.
