The earliest written record of Château Peyrabon is dated from 1776 with the château being built a decade prior. The property passed through many hands, most notably Arnaud Roux who sued when the estate was excluded from the 1855 classification of Bordeaux. He lost his bid, though at the time his wines’ quality and price rivaled those of its classified neighbors. Château Peyrabon is comprised of 56 hectares situated just west of Pauillac. It most recently regained prominence after being purchased by Patrick Bernard who quickly invested over $2M to renovate and modernize the château, vineyards, cellar and winemaking facilities. With Bernard at the helm, along with winemaker Xavier Michelet, devoted themselves to crafting authentic wines that are elegant, silky, and marked by their freshness and fruity character. Château Peyrabon’s vineyards are planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot in soils of sandy gravel and clay-limestone. In 2020, the estate achieved Supérieur status in the most recent Cru Bourgeois classification. Two years later, Château Peyrabon was acquired by the Castéja family (owners of Fifth Growths Châteaux Batailley and Lynch-Moussas) and is now run by the father and son team of Philippe and Frédéric Castéja.
Château Peyrabon pours an alluring mid-ruby red with garnet highlights. With a gentle swirl, sensuous aromas of red berry and stone fruits waft from the glass accented with warm spice. The incredibly soft palate is loaded with juicy fruit flavors: spiced raspberry preserves and macerated plums punctuated with a delicate, though lively acidity and extremely well-incorporated tannins. This Bordeaux exhibits wonderful length throughout its silky, smooth finish. Château Peyrabon's Haut-Médoc rouge will be delightful with a variety of dishes... pair with black pepper-crusted tuna, pan-seared pork medallions or classic roast beef, this wine will sing with each.

With its high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine has a good structure and ripe, generous black-currant flavors. Its fresh character gives juiciness that contrasts with the rich fruits. It's a wine with tannins and aging potential. Drink from 2023.
