The Buffet family has been farming in Burgundy since 1692, though their official domaine didn't begin until 1849. Over the years, the family has amassed an enviable holding of exceptional, regional, village and premier cru sites in Volnay, Pommard, Pernand-Vergelesses and Savigny-les-Beaune. Currently, the estate is run by Marc-Olivier Buffet, the seventh generation, and consists of just over 8 hectares of vines, producing wine from over 15 different appellations. The Buffet philosophy is to "speak with" the terroir, limiting human influence to produce individual wines that are representative of their vineyard site.
Vinous
- v92-94
This 1er cru owes its name to an ancient species of oak that disappeared several centuries ago. This wine shows off the magnificence of Pinot Noir with its chalky marl terroir. Aged 18 months in oak barrels, this full bodied wine gets better over time and can be stored for many years.

Cool and sleek with a firm structure, this barely medium-bodied Volnay has been built to age and is still quite tightly wound. Some minty freshness in the crisp, moderately dry finish. Best after 2026.
