The Tonelli family of Fattoria Villa Ligi have been making wine in Le Marche since 1912. Today, third and fourth generation father-son team, Francesco and Stefano Tonelli, work their family vineyards in Pergola, with an emphasis on propagating local varietals, like the obscure Aleatico grape, as well as keeping alive local appellations, like the Pergola DOC, Bianchello del Metauro DOC and Colli Pesaresi DOC.
Villa Ligi’s Ponente — crafted from 100% Sangiovese — presents a bright ruby red with purple reflections, offering high-toned aromas of cherries, red currants and cranberries marked with a touch of black pepper. The medium-bodied palate showcases a delightful combination of pure, red berry flavors, vibrant acidity and soft tannins. Wonderfully balanced from first sip to its long, silky-smooth finish. Great go-to wine for pasta/pizza night, but just as delicious on its own or with a plate of cured meats and aged cheeses.
