Domaine Louis Boillot is a small estate based in Chambolle-Musigny where Louis Boillot shares the cellar with his wife, Ghislaine Barthod. Louis started his professional life with his brother Pierre in a cellar in Gevrey, but they separated in 2002. His 6.8ha estate includes village and Premier Cru vineyards in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune including Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges in the former, as well as Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay in the latter. These are wines of natural, unforced elegance which are made from low yields in the vineyard and without excess extraction or new oak in the cellar, which allows the character of the vineyard to express itself.

The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Village matured in foudre and 600-liter barrels for the first time. It offers admirable purity and presence on the nose, with raspberry and wild strawberry aromas intermingling with faint touches of undergrowth and mint. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red fruit tones. It is finely balanced yet needs a little more complexity on the finish. Still, it has purity and translates its terroir with style.
