Domaine Louis Boillot is a small estate based in Chambolle-Musigny where Louis Boillot shares the cellar with his wife, Ghislaine Barthod. Louis started his professional life with his brother Pierre in a cellar in Gevrey, but they separated in 2002. His 6.8ha estate includes village and Premier Cru vineyards in both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune including Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Nuits-Saint-Georges in the former, as well as Beaune, Pommard, and Volnay in the latter. These are wines of natural, unforced elegance which are made from low yields in the vineyard and without excess extraction or new oak in the cellar, which allows the character of the vineyard to express itself.

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a perfumed and floral bouquet with pressed white flowers percolating through the red berry fruit, though it needs more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins. It's not a powerhouse Gevrey, but it is well-balanced with a transparent and appealing finish.
