Vini Lazzeretti — a humble ten-hectare estate nestled at the foot of the hill of Montalcino — is the dream project of Marco Lazzeretti. Marco was born into a winemaking family and on his 18th birthday, he was gifted the one-hectare vineyard his grandfather Pietro Bastiani planted in 1981. Marco expanded upon it over the following year (1998) with the goal of producing wines under his own name, which came to fruition in 2001. He was soon joined by his sister Lucia and together they now oversee all phases of production and cellar management. Vini Lazzeretti crafts limited production wines of exceptional quality and value — Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva.
Lazzeretti's Rosso di Montalcino pours a brilliant ruby red with a violet rim, offering a vibrant bouquet of crunchy red fruits accented with purple flowers and fresh herbs. The medium-bodied palate is soft and textured possessing a surge of black cherry and raspberry flavors kissed with spice. This Rosso is lifted by a succulent acidity and complemented by a subtle, crushed stone minerality and silky, suave tannins. This wine is a pleasure to drink, finishing long with complexity and depth. Pair with tagliatelle in a creamy Bolognese sauce or braised short ribs over rosemary and pecorino polenta.
