Tenuta Colpaola — located in the village of Braccano — is owned by the husband-wife team of Francesco Porcarelli and Stefania Peppoloni. The estate’s villa was built as a rental property over 50+ years ago and both Francesco’s grandfather and father served as the estate’s managers throughout its history. When the property was put up for sale in 2007, Francesco and Stefania jumped at the opportunity to acquire the estate. They immediately put the land to vine, planting 10 hectares of Verdicchio on the 650-meter slopes of the foothills of the San Vicino Mountains. The couple has practiced organic farming since inception, finally becoming certified in 2016. In addition to their 10 hectares of Verdicchio, Stefania and Francesco also planted a 0.5-hectare plot of Merlot on their calcareous-clay soils.
